Transportation

Access to Cedar Rapids, IA is convenient by car or air. Cedar Rapids Iowa is centrally located and is approximately a four hour drive from Minneapolis, Chicago, St. Louis and Omaha. The Eastern Iowa Airport is located seven miles south of Cedar Rapids, just off of I-380. Eastern Iowa Airport service is provided by American Connection, American Eagle, Allegiant Air, Comair/Delta Connection, Northwest Airlink, United Express.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA)

The TSA of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has very strict screening guidelines for transporting sports equipment. It prohibits certain sporting equipment from being brought onboard an aircraft, including equipment determined at the discretion of the security screener to be dangerous, which may include ice skates. While these items may be PROHIBITED from your carry-on luggage, they may be transported to your destination in your checked baggage. Any sharp objects in checked baggage should be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury to baggage handlers and security screeners and/or damage to other luggage. Please reference the website below for an outline of items that are permitted and prohibited in your carryon and/or checked baggage. Local Transportation

Cedar Rapids is not a big congested city. The furthest hotels from the rink are nine miles through town and are conveniently located to I-380. It is a 15 to 20 minute drive depending on traffic.

Housing

Upper Great Lakes Regional Championships Official Hotel is the CROWNE PLAZA FIVE SEASONS HOTEL with 275 guest rooms and is within a 10 minute drive to the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Blocks of rooms have been reserved. Competitors are responsible for making their own room reservations. To reserve rooms at the discounted price, please mention, “Eastern Iowa Figure Skating — Upper Great Lakes Regional.” All blocks will be released by Sept. 10, 2007 so please make your reservations early.
