Frequently Asked Questions about Practice Ice

1)    Why did we receive our practice ice schedule so late?

We had to wait for the competition schedule to be released by the USFSA.  Unfortunately, we did not receive the schedule from USFSA until September 22nd.   With over 450 skaters registered for the 2008 UGL Regional Competition it takes a significant amount of time to process and schedule all practice ice requests.  We have tried to schedule practice ice sessions as quickly and expeditiously as possible.

2)    Why did some of us not receive the first emailed practice ice invoice?

3)    Why did I get a second emailed invoice for practice ice?

We realized some people were not receiving the emailed invoice due to spam filters on their ISP or local computer.  Therefore we resent the invoices through a different process to ensure all were received.

4)    Why does my practice ice invoice does not match what I requested?

A.    The final competition schedule released by the USFSA was slightly different from the preliminary schedule originally posted on the website.  We adjusted requests for non-qualifying events and senior ladies to accommodate the change in schedule.  The delay in receiving the final schedule from the USFSA prevented us from contacting all skaters about these changes in advance.

B.    You may have submitted invalid requests for some sessions such as program ice for the day of your event.  Our system automatically rejected those invalid requests.

C.     While we did try to accommodate all requests we may not have been able to assign you all the sessions you requested.

5)    My practice ice times don’t match my travel plans.  Can I change my practice ice request?

Practice ice sessions were scheduled based upon the requests received by September 1st and the final competition schedule released by the referee.  Unfortunately, we cannot accept any changes.

6)    We changed our practice ice plans.  Do we still have to pay for all the sessions we requested?

Yes.  The amount of practice ice time purchased was based upon the practice ice requests received by the September 1st deadline.  You must pay for what you requested.  If you do not pay the full amount due, your session will be released.

7)    We missed the September 1st deadline to request practice ice.  Can we still purchase practice ice?

You can purchase practice ice sessions at the Practice Ice desk in the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena starting on Monday October 8, 2007.  Practice Ice must be paid for by check or cash, credit cards will not be accepted.

8)       We requested practice ice sessions on-line by the September 1st deadline, how can we request or purchase additional practice ice sessions?

Additional practice ice sessions can be purchased at the Practice Ice desk in the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena starting on Monday October 8, 2007.

9)       Do I need to be present to purchase practice ice for my skater?

No, you personally do not need to be present to purchase practice ice for your skater.  You can delegate someone to purchase practice ice for you.  All practice ice must be paid for at the time of purchase/request.  Practice Ice must be paid for by check or cash, credit cards will not be accepted.

10)     I requested program ice but my invoice lists short and free skate sessions instead.  What happened to my requested program ice sessions?

Short and free skate sessions are program ice sessions.  These were assigned based upon your submitted requests for short and free skate program ice.  They identify which music – short or long program - will be played on that practice ice session.

11)     My invoice lists sessions at NHL, OLY and CRM.  What are these?

These identify where your practice ice sessions will take place:

NHL – the NHL rink at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena

OLY – the Olympic rink at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena

CRM – the ice rink at the Coral Ridge Mall

12)     Will there be program ice sessions available for purchase during the competition?

Yes, there will be some program ice sessions available for purchase during the competition.  However, there are only a limited number of program sessions available and these will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

13)     Why did my invoice not include a charge for warm-up ice?

A.       If you are a non-qualifying skater the referee did not schedule warm-up sessions for those events.  We have added warm-up ice sessions on Saturday morning for non-qualifying events that can be purchased during the competition.

B.        You probably requested warm-up ice sessions for the days after your initial or qualifying round.  Warm-up ice sessions are available for later rounds.  These sessions cannot be purchased until after the initial or qualifying round has been completed.

14)     How will I know which warm up session I’m in?

Due to the delay in receiving session groupings from the USFSA we were not able to assign warm-up ice sessions by the time we emailed the practice ice invoices.  The schedule for warm-up ice assignments will be posted by the Practice Ice desk at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.  You will need to purchase your warm-up ice sessions at the Practice Ice desk.

15)     I’m concerned there won’t be enough warm-up ice sessions for all skaters.  Can we pre-order or pre-purchase warm-up ice?

Every skater is guaranteed one warm-up ice session for each qualifying event entered.  Skaters will not be allowed to purchase more than one warm-up ice session for each event.  Warm-up ice sessions can be purchased at the Practice Ice desk during the competition.
